by being a graduated student (finally after 2.5 years in a hipsterfied construction site) by posting on this, but why not? It could be for nostalgia's sake (This is what I would assume all the no-good low lives who keep coming back claim.)

Not like I would want to be within 25 feet of most of you catty, selfish, spoiled, gentrifying bumper sticker apathetic hipster postmodern nouveu riche hipster/hipster spawn (combine all of them) at any given time.

I'm being unfair. Most people that I've met at the school were two notches above tolerable.

It was fun bothering most of you for a while, and I appreciate the comedic things I have brought myself while being a detriment to a fine amount of school functions.

The school has a do it yourself, iconoclastic streak to it... or does it?

Does someone who creates his own newspaper and rebel against the "elite" truly deserve scorn from such a wide range of people? (ME) (Almost surprising how you thought my sheet of paper with made up stories was a newspaper. Thank the INDY for wasting your activity fee by appearing on the radio and TV to debate a false newspaper)

Does a comic book collecting, anime loving trivia wizard deserve the shit you all say behind his back, despite lacking ANY mean tendencies in his body (Peter Foy?)

Oh well. As I look back at most of you, a gossiping pack of artificially created "unique" individuals I will remember what the final culmination of soulless aesthetic postmodernism is embodied by: Purchase College Fall 2009.

Please, leave me comments. I won't read them. I will come back when I'm older and highly successful and godlike and show my children how easy it is to annoy people. I mean, as Oscar Wilde said "The only thing worse then being talked about is not being talked about at all."

Enjoy the construction, the vacant stood (all 42 broken arcade games) and friday nights of sitting in your apartment drunk to 80s synth pop that you're too young to remember! Maybe since Sam is in charge of Culture shock, you will recognize an all time high amount of bands preforming! 5%! What a deal!

Rot in Williamsberg "ya'll"!

So I get back from my European holiday (Copenhagen & Warsaw) and am telling my friends all about it, when I found out that they heard nothing of Auschwitz's sign getting stolen. Maybe because I was in Poland when it happened, idk, but did you hear about it?

[ mood | hopeful ]

So it's time to start buying textbooks again soon. I have textbooks for the following classes that I no longer need and am willing to sell:

  • Intro to Sociology {I have the "Real World" by Ferris}.
  • Sociology of Education {"Schools and Society" by Ballantine/Spade...there are also other books which I can't remember right now}.

  • Cognitive Psychology
  • Class, Power, Privilege
  • Law, Ethics and the Media
  • Intro to Civil Law
  • Arts and Entertainment Law
  • Law and the Family
  • Intro to Criminal Law
  • Race, Gender and the Law
I can't remember the name of every book for each class but if you will be taking any of the classes listed above and need the book, please let me know the title and it's very likely that I'll still have it. Sorry for the confusion before. Hope this helps.

Let me know what class you're taking b/c I might have the book.

Thanks a bunch :)

{By the way, I'm willing to sell my stuff at reasonable prices.}

Winter Runner & Heat Wave Cyclist [03 Jan 2010|03:17pm]

purchase

[jack_o_diamonds]
So I was sitting on my couch in Alumni eating a PB&B (peanut butter and banana) while my friend [info]heartttcore sat nearby eating peanut butter from the jar with a spoon. Watching the snow begin to fall, never did it occur to us that anything might be wrong with this kind of activity. It's the winter and furthermore the holiday season; I can eat a sleeve of cookie dough if I want to right now and that's okay. Then there was winter runner:

(not actually a picture of Purchase Winter Runner, just a stock representative)

Winter runner was rapidly completing his loop beneath my window overlooking the Alumni parking lot... in shorts...and a skull cap...and sneakers...in the snow. Yeah, winter runner: making everyone feel fat and fucking useless. Winter runner, ruining my 2pm breakfast of PB&B. Thanks!

Now, I'm not saying ALL outdoor winter activity is inherently fucked up. Running from a bus stop to your door? Fine. Sledding on a garbage pail lid? Sure. Foraging for food because you're a fucking squirrel? Go right ahead. But I'm pretty sure this guy was not making his way to a bus stop, nor was he carrying any make-shift sleigh and I would even venture the wild guess that he shops at Whole Foods and not a buried store of nuts.

(A squirrel foraging)

Winter runner is kind of like Heat Wave Cyclist, and sometimes even the same person. For some reason this person seems to enjoy donning full body spandex while cross-country cycling through 90% humidity on 99 degree summer days under full sun of noon. Up a fucking hill. On father's day at school Heat Wave Cyclist's kid has no chance; Heat Wave Cyclist's kid gets the crap mercilessly kicked out them when recess rolls around. "My dad's a volunteer fireman, he saves lives for fun." "My dad is a Heat Wave Cyclist, he makes people want to kill themselves...for fun." Now Johnny's listening to Insane Clown Posse and painting his nails and maybe turning into a fag and it's all because his asshole father ran when it was below 32 degrees and/or rode his bike in the dog days of August.

(Heat Wave Cyclist's son Johnny, age 16)

Basically what I'm trying to say is my PB&B is cold now and I'm pissed at the world.

project focus [02 Jan 2010|06:42pm]

purchase

[amethystaisling]
I'm interested in Project Focus. I couldn't do it last semester because of conflict with my classes. Does anyone know what the schedule is like this semester? I know the days and times for the class portion and the different sites were posted in CCN, but I didn't note them down. I sent an email to the Project Focus people but I'd just like to know if it will be doable with the other classes I need to take (not directly conflict). Also, if anyone's done it, how was your experience? Would you recommend it? Can you tell me anything about particular sites vs. other sites?

lost dorm keys [02 Jan 2010|05:45pm]

purchase

[thesnoo52]
My family's vacation rental house got robbed last week and my bag was taken with my dorm keys inside(I drove to the airport and had my keys with them still on it... stupid i know). I live in Crossroads, does anyone with experience with losing keys know about how much it costs to replace the keys and change my dorm room's locks? I've heard it's upwards of $400. Is there anywhere on the Purchase site where I can find out? I need to know so my family can be reimbursed in an insurance settlement.

Thanks

BOSTON — A New Hampshire woman who is critically ill with gastrointestinal anthrax most likely swallowed spores while participating in a community drumming circle, state health officials said Tuesday.

The woman was among some 60 people who attended the drumming session on Dec. 4 at the United Campus Ministry near the University of New Hampshire in Durham, said Dr. Elizabeth A. Talbot, an adviser to the state’s Division of Public Health Services.

Investigators found traces of anthrax on two African drums and an electrical outlet in the room where the event took place, Dr. Talbot said, and are theorizing that the woman swallowed spores that were aerosolized by the drumming. The state has not identified the woman because of privacy concerns.

Dr. Talbot said the anthrax detected on the drums was a naturally occurring strain that frequently appears in soil. Animals that ingest contaminated soil can pass the disease to people who handle their hides. Most of the drums at the session were made with animal hides, she said.
